Miss Namibia 2023 First Runner Up, Albertina Haimbala will represent Namibia at the Miss Earth 2024 international beauty pageant, instead of the Miss World Beauty Festival as initially announced. The Miss Namibia Organisation (MNO) indicated that this decision is as a result of a standing rule enforced by the Miss World Organisation which states that only the national winner can participate in the Miss World Beauty Festival.

Miss Namibia Organization Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Umbi Karuaihe-Upi stated: “The rule clearly stipulates that the first runner up can only participate, when the national winner is unable to and/or incapacitated.” Karuaihe-Upi noted that following the announcement by the Miss World Organization to not allow runner ups to participate in the Miss World Beauty Festival, the Miss Namibia Organisation had to adjust accordingly.

“There are rules and requirements that we have no control over, including the postponement of international beauty pageants. Hence, as Licence Franchise holders, we must abide by them. We further discussed this important matter and development with Haimbala, and she is ecstatic to represent Namibia at the prestigious Miss Earth International 2024 later this year.”

Moreover, she highlighted that as a result of the now stringent rules by the Miss World Organisation, only the national winner of the Miss Namibia 2024, will be sent to Miss Universe 2024 which will take place in Mexico in September 2024, further adding that the first and second runner ups will not represent Namibia on any international stages this year.
